Market Mapping

Problem

Our client is a top 100 chemical distributor backed by a mega-cap private equity firm. In a fragmented sector, they wanted to identify and gather key data points on all North American chemical distributors

Objective

Map out the company’s market segment and identify all relevant targets with operations in Canada, US, and Mexico

Solution

Leveraging our deep sector knowledge and experience, we identified an information set well beyond sector agnostic sources to include industry specific intelligence, 27 discrete sources. Having worked with our client to identify and weigh key search parameters, our data team wrote custom code to filter a highly fragmented data set through web scraping and query technologies. Through the combined capabilities of our data analytics team and our M&A team, we delivered to our client a comprehensive market map of potential targets each strategically scored according to our client’s unique criteria.
